How do I join JMU GIVE?

In order to join you must be an enrolled student at JMU! We will have interest meetings at the beginning of each semester where you can learn more about us, and we will tell you our semesterly dues which change slightly semester to semester. Once you've paid, we'll add you to our email list and GroupMe so you won't miss a thing!

Are volunteer hours tracked and is there a required amount?

We don't have any requirements for an amount of hours that you must volunteer to remain a member. We hope you want to volunteer, and will get out there on your own time! If someone does need proof of volunteer hours for another organization, we are able to do that.

I don't have a car - can I still volunteer?

Yes! We will always try our best to get everyone a ride to whichever volunteer opportunity they want to go to. Our members and executive team are incredibly welcoming and are always offering rides. Additionally, we usually have a signup sheet for all volunteer opportunities in our GroupMe, so you can always reach out to people there. Carpooling is not only good for the environment, but it's a great way to meet other members!

When do you have meetings and are they mandatory?

We have bi-weekly meetings on Thursdays, exact locations and times are always given to our members via GroupMe and e-mail. Our meetings are not mandatory and we do not take attendance. But, we do urge members to come out because the meetings are always fun, a great way to meet people, and learn some cool stuff.
